Summary
Using Gelli Plate printing we will explore a variety of mark-making techniques to add color and pattern to a silk scarf. The Gelli Plate is a simple tool that will allow us to stamp directly from it to the fabric, by painting on the plate with thickened dyes, which will be colorfast once set. The dyes will interact with the gelli plate to create diverse textures, and layering the stamping builds subtly rich color patterns. Kathy will bring a variety of tools, and demonstrate how you can make your own. Dyes will stain your clothes and hands, so please dress accordingly, and bring a pair or two of vinyl gloves.
